This is a new partnership for Peace, as CDRC will move their offices to Peace on September 6, 2019.
Here's our newsletter update about that:
The Session of Peace Presbyterian Church and the Board of Cumberland Disaster Recovery Coalition (CDRC) have made a six-month agreement to partner together in ministry. We will partner with CDRC in ministry by donating two rooms for their office space.
CDRC will partner with Peace in ministry by making a monetary donation each month to cover the costs of their utilities and building use.
CDRC plans to move in early in September, and will use two rooms at the end of the Christian Education hallway, the refrigerator in the fellowship hall storage room, the back parking lot, and the playground entrance. Until March, they have a team of social workers who will use Peace as their home base and will come and go from the building throughout the day. CDRC will additionally use the Fellowship Hall two Tuesday afternoons a month to host meetings of the Unmet Needs Committee and the CDRC Community Meeting. They will provide internet with guest access to our college and youth room, Presbyterian Women’s room, and Girl Scout room. Their presence in the building will not stop us from keeping our regular schedule, and any church building needs that come up will still have priority.
Please know that our Session worked very hard on creating an agreement that is generous in our understanding of the work that CDRC does and the needs they have for space, but also implements appropriate boundaries and expectations regarding the use of our building and resources. A six-month trial period will help us determine whether this is a partnership that could be renewed for a longer term. CDRC Director Luz Sanabria-Reyes looks forward to meeting members of Peace who might have questions about the work done by the organization she serves.
The mission of Cumberland Disaster Recovery Coalition (CDRC) is to assess unmet needs and provide Cumberland County residents access, coordination, and education of available resources in a long-term disaster caused recovery. They formed in 2011 in partnership with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
